About Becki's Bobbins
My interest in textiles began when I was a young girl. When I was a Girl Scout I had great fun earning my sewing merit badge. My interest in textiles has stayed with me all these years.I also think it is fun browsing in antique shops. Finding unique items that once served us I believe has a warm appeal and carries a neat story.
After my mother gave me a pair of bobbins as a gift, I began noticing old wooden bobbins! I purchased a few to decorate the mantel and need I say more? Over the years my collection grew to a long ledge full of various wooden bobbins and spools, each having their own shape, size, and purpose in the textile mill. Here is a sampling of my bobbin collection:

It is fascinating that generations before us was invented such a sophisticated enterprise, the textile mill, to make cloth, something we take so much for granted today.
Today's factories have been completely converted over to the use of plastic. Except for the cute cones, all my wooden bobbins are genuine and handmade items from the early 1900s. I am proud to offer you ownership of a small relic of the American Industrial Revolution that helped form our strong heritage. Enjoy!
