Textile Mills and Their Machinery
Textile mills were very popular in the USA during the 19th century. During the Industrial Revolution the making of thread, yarn and cloth was almost completely mechanized. Here are some images of textile mills long since abandoned and some of the complex machinery used to make cloth.

| The Roswell Manufacturing Company buildings have been renovated into office buildings. From these modern photos one can see that the mill was built on a hillside to take advantage of the water source in the valley on the right of the pictures. | |
