Textile Mills and Their Machinery

Textile mills were very popular in the USA during the 19th century. During the Industrial Revolution the making of thread, yarn and cloth was almost completely mechanized. Here are some images of textile mills long since abandoned and some of the complex machinery used to make cloth.

Looms, circa 1910-1930.
Mill: Fulton Bag and Cotton Mill
Looms used in the weaving process show the massive machinery employed in the textile industry. On the left of the picture a group of quills are situated horizontally for supplying thread to the loom in making cloth.
